Look into my eyes and you'll see that it's true, I don't have the faith that I used to In my fellow man, where'd we go so wrong? Sold our souls down the River Faustian... And the bones are starting to show A train full of coal, might bring you riches, But won't fill that hole in yourself That you still try to fill, with diamonds and broken things and the animal you kill and still... you swing so low Look into my eyes and you'll see that it's true, I don't have the faith that I used to In my fellow man, where'd we go so wrong? Sold our souls down the River Faustian And the bones are starting to show And you don't accept your role in the genocide of native tribes or the country as a whole And its sick how you feel so absolved just cause the the trees your reaping from aren't from seeds you've sewn or so... We've been told Look into my eyes Look into my eyes Look into my eyes...

I don't know why, I never do Keep my options open You're looking at life with other views That you don't care to mention It's not like I never tried To open myself up Split it and divide.. You can't do that with love

Sand Dunes 02:54
The sun set, right there behind you Light as a sand dune Before I knew just where I couldn't go How could I know? That your eyes, they looked into mine Still i don't know why i couldn't see when you looked at me.. It's been a while since i've been with you, and all i can think is what could i do? To make you see me for what I want to be, not was is left, it's not what i've meant.. When the sun set right there behind you bright as a sand dune before I knew where I couldn't go well how could I know? It's been a while since i've been with you Alll I can think is what could I do?

The Thief 03:03
I checked in with my demons, to see if they were still alive They're kinda like bed bugs the way they seem to thrive out of sight, without feed oh it's been a long time but they hang on with a death grip as I hold on like a child And oh.. Tell me what I need Cause I know but i'd like to hear it from my thief I checked in with my demons to see if they were still alive they're kinda like lead slugs they way that they collide with my life at such speed oh it's been a long time but they fly by to their death hits as I watch on like a child And oh.. Tell me what I need Cause I know but i'd like to hear it from my thief

Just what am I doing? Why can't I see? You keep yourself and your powers for other men to bleed And it's not what I imagined I'd ever let myself be more spawn for the angler without light shining on thee It's a dark power you require to feel free And all I want is happy, happy for you and me We gave each other laughter and then you took it with such glee it's not what i imagined i'd ever let myself be more spawn for the angler without light shining on thee It's a stark reminder of our animality Just what am I doing? Why can't I see? You keep yourself and your powers for other men to bleed

Echoes 03:54
Well i'll be waiting like an echo to return your loving if it is so.. But you were unsure, you were scared as I held you closely i was unprepared.. for the lightning in the air so far, so silent, til it's ring in your ears But i'll be waiting, like an echo To return your loving if it is so...

The streets feel more like humans do walking down park avenue a wooden box of ripened fruit and everything in French and your lips taste more like honeydew as i recall our rendezvous charting out higher pursuits with everything in French And let me carry away those troubles that bay troubles made small dancing the waltz Montreal And amber pours down honeyed hills, come on babe we've got time to kill maybe find some old time thrill maybe something in French And let me carry away those troubles that bay troubles made small dancing the waltz Montreal

about

When the pandemic lockdowns hit I picked up my phone, guitar and some random other instruments and locked myself away in a cabin for a few days.

In this weird and rare downtime, where we were all forced to reflect and go inwards, I asked myself what was holding me back from just releasing my music. Its easy to come up with excuses; you can be waiting for the stars to align, waiting to afford proper studio time, waiting for a band, waiting to afford to release vinyl, doubting whether people would care in the first place…

I realised it was time to just put the doubt and excuses aside and just get some of my songs out there into the world. I’ve been writing fairly consistently over the past decade, occasionally gigging, but never releasing anything. So, here is my debut: ‘Cabin Songs’.

Recorded in the second week of lockdowns, these songs were recorded quickly using just Garageband on my iPhone. They are raw recordings. You can hear the cabin, you can hear the crickets and frogs and rain and wind and trees, you can hear the creak of the chair. It makes sense to me.

Some of the songs like ‘River Faustian’ and ‘The Thief’ were written years ago, but most of them were written in the same week they were recorded. They capture a time, a space, a vibe...
